EXECUTIVE BIO, CEO
As a young man, he decided to attend Iowa State University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1980. He then headed south, completing a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech in 1982 in which he worked on Laser Research and graduated with Honors. After working with IBM for 11 years, Charles went on to work with an international conglomerate to form Beta International. As a CEO of Beta, he grew the business to $150M and ran seven different entities in multiple states. Currently, he is the owner of a real estate company, as well as a steel manufacturing operation, Porters Group, which supplies all models for Diebold and NCR ATM machines in the United States, Europe, South America, and parts for Caterpillar and Ingersoll Rand as well as many other company’s. Saleh also holds a Professional Engineering License, N.C. Contractor's License, and a N.C. Real Estate Broker's License.
"Why steel?" counters Saleh. "You will always need steel. Steel is one of the basics in life." This engineer-turned-businessman actually welcomes challenges. "Show me an industry that is not competitive. The issue is not competition. It's how much confidence you have in yourself." Saleh's management philosophy is quite simple. "It really comes down to the basics. The number one rule is trust. Your word is your bond. When you do the right things in life and treat people well, the rest will follow."
His biggest priority is his family and his wife Mary since 1983 and their five children. Saleh is also deeply committed to the community; "We need to be known for our ethics and for making our community a better place to live."
He has demonstrated this dedication, serving on the Charlotte Chamber's Board of Advisors, is on The Charlotte Christian Board of Trustees, was Chairman of the Manufacturing Flagship for Carolina Advantage, served on the Board for the International Phoenician Club, was on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Development Corporation, served as a member of the Westside Business Association, and supports programs that target youth as well as many other non-profits. "It's important to help children get the best start." Charles also enjoys traveling, outdoors, and sports.

EXECUTIVE BIO, PRESIDENT
During his youth in 1966, Hans Wede had an apprenticeship in tools and die making. He later obtained a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Technical Copenhagen Denmark in 1970. He also went on to obtain his Business Degree in Administration and Economics from University of Copenhagen in 1973, which is equivalent to MBA in the USA. His experience in manufacturing began in the early 1960’s.
After working with KTAS telephone company in Denmark as an industrial engineer for 2 years, he went on to work with Ortfon in Denmark as a plant manager for three electronic factories 4 years. He then began working with JBL, Inc (Harman International) for six years. He was transferred from Denmark to JBL in California as manufacturing engineer but was quickly promoted to manager and director of development and engineering. Later on, he began President of General Marble for five years, in which had sales of 110 million. Soon after, he became the owner of Porter’s Group. He helped Porter’s Group grow from .9 million in sales to 10.5 million in sales in less than 6 years. In 2005, Wede sold the majority of the company to Charles Saleh, but is still an active partner of Porter’s. He is currently the President of Porter’s Group. Porter’s is currently projecting sales of up to 55 million for 2012.
Wede has always been “result oriented” with extensive experience in turning companies around. He has a proven track record in doing business with companies like Home Depot and Freightliner. In addition, Wede has received the Home Depot “Partner of Year” Award in both 1996 and 1997. Moreover, he has attended several seminars in World Class Manufacturing, is a Certified Jonah (Theory of Constraint), speaks four languages, and has extensive experience in doing business in Europe, Asia, and China.
His biggest priority and joy in life is his family. He has been married to his wife Kirsten since 1968 and has two daughters Christina and Theresa, and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys photography, traveling, and playing tennis and soccer.

GUY WALTER ROBERTS
EXECUTIVE BIO, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Guy Roberts comes to Porter’s Group with over 23 years experience in all areas of manufacturing, such as: parts fabrication, component sub-assembly, final assembly, strategic planning, daily operations, purchasing, materials, scheduling and engineering. Guy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Minor in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University.
As Chief Operating Officer since early 2011, he oversees both the Bessemer City and Sumter plants, which includes: operations management, sales and marketing, quality, purchasing, material planning, and engineering organizations.
Prior to joining Porter’s Group, Roberts served as Strategic Operations Manager for Daimler Corporation’s bus division. He worked for Daimler for 22 year in various capacities. His area of expertise is in strategic planning, continuous improvement and lean deployment.
Guy has served on the Gaston College Advisory Board. Benchmarked lean manufacturing facilities around the world. He is married to his wife Tamra and has and one daughter and one son. He’s active in Pine Lake Charter School and volunteers at Cove Church. He enjoys all water sports, boating, family, and snow skiing.

EXECUTIVE BIO, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Clint Shuford has a vast amount of experience in both the accounting and business administration fields in which he has worked since graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1986. He also holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Gardner-Webb University and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the state of North Carolina.
Shuford began his career in public accounting with Deloitte and Touche before moving to the private sector and manufacturing. He later worked as the Controller for a plastic injection molding company and CFO/General Manager for a heavy equipment manufacturer. He has been in the steel industry since 2002. Throughout his career Shuford has obtained extensive working knowledge in accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, costing, payroll and human resources.
Shuford is the Chief Financial Officer of Porters Group since May 2007 and oversees all of the financial aspects of the locations in Bessemer City, N.C. and Sumter, S.C. He also serves as Safety Officer where he has been instrumental in implementing programs to increase safety awareness and create safe working environments at all facilities.
Shuford has been married since 1988 and has one daughter. He helps serve the community by coaching high school and club soccer; and serves on several local Board of Directors. Shuford is a USSF Licensed soccer coach and is a certified scuba diver with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors where he holds the certification of Dive Master. He is a member of the North Carolina Association of CPA’s and is a lifelong member of Palm Tree United Methodist Church where he has served as Treasurer and Youth Director. He enjoys playing sports, outdoor activities and spending time with his family.

EXECUTIVE BIO, VICE PRESIDENT SALES AND PURCHASING
Mike Taylor brings with him a wealth of experience. He obtained a BS in Industrial Engineering from East Carolina University. He has also been in the steel business since 1969. His previous experience includes sales, estimating, engineering and distribution. A few of the companies he has worked with include: Edgcombe Metals (Namaso/Mac), DuBose Steel, Carolina Coil (Now Steel Technologies-Clinton, NC), and Metrolina Steel. At Dubose he established the flat rolled division in where he purchased buildings, equipment and took sales up from $0 million to $12 million/year in three years.
Since joining the Porter’s team in 2002, he has been very successful in achieving sales goals. Porter’s has gone from $3 million in sales in 2002 to a projected $55 million in 2012. Taylor has created wonderful relationship with customers and has established new accounts. He has also helped Porter’s Group in diversifying products produced, capabilities, and accounts. He has helped in establishing engineering guidelines and quoting formats to ensure competitiveness. He is also responsible for optimizing $20 million of material spending through purchasing and long term vendor relationships. Taylor continues to be a strong force in managing sales and operations for the company.
Taylor has also achieved years for community service. He has served as Scout Master as well as Head Coach for baseball, soccer, and football teams for over 20 years. He is also a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association as an Instrument Commercial Pilot since 1986 and enjoys flying. He also enjoys all outdoor activities, especially camping, hiking, boating, and kayaking. Taylor has 4 sons and 1 grandson.

EXECUTIVE BIO, GENERAL MANAGER IN SUMTER, SOUTH CAROLINA
Dennis Fraley has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing and International Procurement; with significant expertise in the manufacturing of high security containers and safes. Dennis has managed profit and loss operations across a variety of metal wire and rod processing operations and metal fabrication industries. He has participated in merger and acquisition actions; in both the purchase and sale of businesses. In addition, Dennis managed the International Procurement organization for Diebold Inc., a Fortune 500 company. As Director of International Procurement, Fraley established and managed procurement operations having responsibility for supply chain management in Europe, South America, India and China with an annual spend volume of $400 million.
Fraley is the General Manager for the Porters Fabrication LLC operation in Sumter, South Carolina. Fraley has been with Porters Fabrication since May of 2010. This facility is an integrated metal fabrication facility; producing a wide variety of high value added assemblies for the financial security, electronic and construction industries. The Sumter operation employs approximately 170 associates. Core technical competencies at the facility include laser cutting of a high variety of metals, CNC machining operations, MIG and TIG welding (both manual and robotic), metal forming operations, powder and wet painting, concrete safe production and mechanical assembly processes. Fraley has overall responsibility for all facets of the Sumter business, to include profit and loss.
Fraley had the honor to serve in the United States Army and Army National Guard for 30 years; leaving service with the retired rank of Brigadier General. He earned his undergraduate degree and MBA from Clemson University. Fraley and his wife own and operate Fraley Farms LLC; a horse boarding and training facility, and pet grooming and boarding kennels.

EXECUTIVE BIO, GENERAL MANAGER AT BESSEMER, NC
Jim Shunkwiler brings with him a wealth of experience in both the steel business and managerial experience. He attended California State University at Fullerton where he successfully completed courses in Techniques and Systems of Production Inventory Control. He has also been in the steel business since the early 1970’s.
He started his career in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 as a Pershing Ballistic Missile Guidance And Control Specialist. He then began working with Challenge/Cook which manufactured concrete pumps and ready mix trucks where he worked in the manufacturing department, then moved into shipping receiving, and eventually worked his way up to into the office. There he managed over 120 employees in two different departments, made huge improvements to the production line and created fixtures for concrete pumps. After working for 3 years he decided to continue his education. After completing his education he moved to Charlotte, NC where he worked as a Production Supervisor for nine years with a German manufacturing company, “ELBA” which manufactured concrete pumps. There he controlled and monitored products on the production line. Later he transferred to company as a purchasing manager that manufactured bailing equipment (aluminum & cardboard) for about 4 years. After this, he began working with Metrolina Steel, a service center, as a plant manager for 13 years where he helped develop added value through purchasing equipment.
Shunkwiler has been with Porter’s Group since 2009. He has done a wonderful job managing the Bessemer City, NC plant. He has been of great value to the company by helping increase productivity and managing employees.
Shunkwiler has been married to his wife Kristie since 1991 and has three sons. He was also a member of The American Production and Inventory Control Society. He enjoys gardening, fishing, and spending time with his wife and family.
